Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port provides a home within the Port Authority area for the Denv-R floating data center. The inauguration of this new-generation infrastructure took place on 8th October aboard the Iroko, in the presence of the project’s many economic and institutional partners, including Nantes Metropolitan District Council and Pays de la Loire Regional Authority.

Housed on a float designed by GEPS Techno, this innovative model of floating data center is the only one of its kind. Coupled with an optimized cloud computing service (offering computing power, storage and network), it offers a responsible and sustainable approach to design and operation.

Located at the Quai Wilson facility in Nantes, the data center uses patented technology to cool its servers non-invasively, keeping data "cool" and reducing the impact on the environment.

Thanks to the support of the teams at Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port, who proposed tailor-made solutions to facilitate the implementation of this project, the data center has found its natural home within the Port Authority area. The project also makes perfect sense for a port like Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire, given the volume of data that it generates and processes on a daily basis, as Jean-Rémy Villageois, Chair of the Management Board, pointed out.

The ability of this data center to be mobile, without consuming real estate, and to be positioned as close as possible to maritime facilities, could be a valuable asset for future projects carried out within the Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire ecosystem.
