April saw the participation of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port and Pays de la Loire Regional Authority at two events dedicated to the development of the wind power sector and to decarbonization, in the service of the Regional Community’s businesses and the Loire Estuary Port Community. Here is a look back at WindEurope 2025 and FOWT!

WindEurope 2025

Representatives of the Pays de la Loire Region, France’s leading region for marine renewable energy, were out in force at the French pavilion at WindEurope, the world’s largest wind power generation trade fair. The Loire Estuary economic ecosystem of the "Blue Economy International Task Force" answered the call in Copenhagen, from 8th to 10th April!

Claire Hugues, Pays de la Loire Regional Council Vice-Chair with responsibility for maritime affairs, led a regional mission made up of around 15 Loire Estuary companies from the Neopolia cluster, which is active in conquering European markets, together with experts from Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port.

The three days were packed with discussions and conferences focussing on the rapidly expanding European offshore wind power market, with some fifteen meetings with prime contractors and European companies from Norway, Scotland, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece.

Philippe Léon from Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port notably took part in the Supply Chain workshop, in order to promote the Éole project.

FOWT Trade Show

The 12th edition of FOWT, the event dedicated to floating offshore wind power, was held in Brest from 23rd to 25th April. Following the success of the 2024 event in Marseille, which attracted more than 50 exhibitors, the four partner Regions of Pays de la Loire, Brittany, Occitania and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur once again joined forces on a joint pavilion. At this 2025 edition, Philippe Léon from Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port presented Éole, its flagship project for the offshore wind turbines of tomorrow. Alongside the plenary and academic sessions, the Regions put on spot events to showcase their economic ecosystems.
