The value-enhancement of port-based real estate is a strategic area of development for France’s major seaport authorities. On 11th March, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port took part in MIPIM, one of the world’s leading trade shows for real-estate development professionals, in Cannes.

On the Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Development Agency stand, Jean-Rémy Villageois, Chair of the Management Board of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port, was in attendance alongside Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes and Chair of Nantes Metropolitan District Council.

Faced with the changes in social, environmental and economic models, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port must adapt and anticipate these transformations and revolutions as best it can. In very concrete terms, the Port is taking action by supporting and facilitating projects that are being undertaken within the Regional Community, to promote decarbonization and energy and ecological transition.

A change of model also means reinventing areas in the heart of the City that no longer have a port vocation. Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port is leading these transformations in collaboration with Nantes Metropolitan District Council.

Two Projects to Redevelop and to Value-Enhance Urban Spaces

Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port wishes to renovate and to transform Quai Marquis d'Aiguillon quay, which leads from the harbour station to the future Cité des Imaginaires venue, by offering a new living space. The transformation of Shed 12 will give pride of place to the river, in keeping with the promenade in the heart of Nantes.

In the Île de Nantes area of the City, following the redevelopment of the former banana storage shed, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port will shortly be issuing a call for expressions of interest for Port Authority spaces located on Quai des Antilles quay, in line with the urban development projects being carried out by Nantes Metropolitan District Council and the SAMOA Metropolitan Area Development Agency.
