Oportunity at the SMM Trade Show in Hamburg
Over the course of four days, the maritime and shipbuilding industries gathered in Hamburg for the 31st SMM Trade Show. Visitors and exhibitors from all over the world came together to discuss innovations, trends and services in the industry and at shipyards.
From 3rd to 6th September, SMM 2024 reaffirmed its position as the leading international maritime trade show, with more than 2 200 exhibiting companies and over 48 000 participants from more than 100 countries.
Partners with Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port
CWS, D-ICE, the Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Development Agency (for Wind For Goods), Neopolia, Wisamo, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port and Michelin shared a stand in the colours of Oportunity, Greater Western France's port promotion collective. The co-exhibitors were notably presenting their sail propulsion systems or alternative fuel solutions.
"When Sail-Powered Vessels Become a Reality": Discover the Dynamic Ecosystem of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire!
On 5th September, a special event on the stand attracted a large number of visitors, who were able to discover the concrete solutions and innovations that will decarbonize the transportation of cargo by sea. They were able to discuss with the Oportunity co-exhibitors the key benefits and challenges of this sector, which is working to protect our maritime environment. A contribution by Gavin Allwright, Secretary General of the International Windship Association (IWSA), was well received in particular.
An announcement was made regarding the holding in 2025 of the third edition of WindforGoods, of which Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port is a partner. Dedicated to wind-powered maritime transport, this gathering supports the industry’s growing momentum, while highlighting the strengths of the Loire Estuary ecosystem. Held in the heart of the Loire Estuary Regional Community, it brings together the key players in the decarbonization of maritime transport.
Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port was also able to present its real-estate and property development offers, its ship repair activities and its decarbonization ambitions.
