A New Piece of Equipment for the Dry Docks
A new Potain SAS crane is currently being assembled beside the dry docks of the Penhoët dock basin in Saint Nazaire. The crane jib was installed at the beginning of February. This new piece of equipment is expected to carry out its first handling operations this spring.
Erected in January and February, the crane manufactured by the Manitowoc Company has a working reach of 75 metres and covers all three of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port’s dry docks. Here are its vital statistics: an overall height of 61 metres; a lift height of 46.5 metres (+ the ship repair dock depth of 10 metres); an operator’s cabin located at a height of 51 metres; a 25-tonne lifting capacity at a reach of up to 26 metres. The crane is due to come into service in the coming weeks.
