Appointed by Presidential Decree dated 19th April 2024, Jean-Rémy Villageois officially took up his post as Chair of the Management Board of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port on Monday, 29th April 2024.

56 years of age, an engineer by training and a graduate of the élite multidisciplinary engineering school ENSTA Paris, Jean-Rémy Villageois began his career in Houston, with the oil drilling firm Pride International. He is very familiar with the Loire Estuary and the shipbuilding industry, having worked for STX Europe (the former Chantiers de l’Atlantique Shipyard) in Saint Nazaire, between 2000 and 2012, first as the Manager responsible for major cruise ship construction contracts, then as Head of New Markets Strategy. He notably played a part in the construction of the ocean liner Queen Mary 2, which was commissioned in 2004.

As of the end of 2012, having been appointed Chair of the Management Board of Martinique Port Authority, Jean-Rémy Villageois drives a managerial dynamic focussed on a customer-based approach and on change management. Under his management, the evolution of the business model enabled that Port Authority to turn around its financial situation and to significantly improve its results. In the space of ten years, Martinique Port Authority became fully committed to a process of energy transition and initiated a strategy of resilience and adaptation to climate change in an island region.

Now at the head of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port, Jean-Rémy Villageois intends to see that the forward momentum is maintained and to play an active role, alongside institutional and economic partners, in actions to decarbonize the whole port and industrial complex. "I am joining Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port at the midpoint of a 2021-2026 strategic plan which is bearing fruit. I salute the teams of personnel who are contributing to this success on a daily basis, and I am happy to be joining them in pursuing the many exciting projects in progress. I am honoured to be working to advance the sustainable development of this Port and of this Regional Community."
