Delivery of the Electrical Substation for Banc de Guérande Wind Farm
Ordered in June 2018 by wind farm operator Société Parc du Banc de Guérande, a subsidiary of EMF, which is a consortium of the companies EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge Inc and WPD Offshore, the electrical substation for the Banc de Guérande wind farm will come into service in 2022. Installed on the site of a facility comprising 80 wind turbines representing a capacity of 480 MW, it will be the first substation destined for a French offshore wind farm.
The selected consortium brings together the know-how possessed by Atlantique Offshore Energy, which is taking care of the design, manufacture and commissioning of the jacket-type foundation and of the topside, which accommodates the electrical equipment, by GE Grid Solutions, which is responsible for the design, manufacture and commissioning of the high- and medium-voltage electrical equipment, and of the protection and control-command systems, and by SDI, for the transportation and installation of these components.
Since it left the painting cell last November, the substation has been undergoing fitting-out in the Chantiers de l’Atlantique pre-assembly area. Following the on-board installation of its technical equipment, it will be moved to the future site of the Banc de Guérande wind farm facility.
