The Seatrade Med Trade Show was held in Malaga (Spain), on 11th and 12th September. This gathering takes place every two years, alternately with the Seatrade Europe Trade Show in Hamburg. Cruise shipping industry professionals come together at the heart of the sector’s operations.

The Nantes − Saint Nazaire Cruise Shipping Club was present within the Cruise Europe pavilion, alongside the other French Atlantic Ports destinations, namely Rouen, Honfleur, Caen-Ouistreham, Le Havre, Cherbourg, Saint Malo, Brest and Bordeaux. The event represented an opportunity to strengthen the network of French Atlantic Ports and, above all, to consolidate existing relationships or to make new contacts with shipping lines and their agents. The French Atlantic Ports are expecting 875 000 passengers in 2024, an increase of 15 % on last year and twice as many as in 2014.

At Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire, the emphasis is on accommodating liners up to 200 metres in length. Most of these luxury or expedition cruise ships are very recent and carry 500 passengers on average. Port calls are organized either in the Saint Nazaire docks or at Cheviré. The next port call will take place on 3rd October at Cheviré, with the arrival for the first time of the Hanseatic Nature, a 138-metre-long expedition cruise liner belonging to the German shipping line Hapag Lloyd.
